EFT is widely taught throughout the world to help overcome extreme trauma experienced in wartime by soldiers and civilians who are overwhelmed by their experiences. In the United States, it is often taught to first responders in all professions and used by clinical therapist to help people deal with events that have become dysfunctional in some way because of their trauma.
It is a tapping sequence that is easy to learn, combined with a statement that acknowledges the incident or irritation and brings it to a state of acceptance, balancing the vibration to a healthy state.
There are a great many videos on EFT on the internet demonstrating this, however some of them have gone off script a little and may not be as effective and the creators have intended. So, EFT has foundation and a web site that I would suggest you visit. There are a number of books that are a great resource that can be relied on. Certification is available, but not vital to doing this on yourself. There are also workshop that charge a fee that may be offered near you, but I am focusing to free to learn sources, so that is up to you on how far you want to take this. The certification process can be done through the internet in a few organizations.
I included this because it is so effective in situations that need more than a “band aid” when confronted with a phobia attack, situational anxiety like being in a crowded place or entering a restaurant that is full of people and there are no tables left along the wall. I use it when I have to go to a city during rush hour, or the mall at Christmas, or events with difficult members of my family.
There are now many, many clinicians and family counselors who employ this skill when helping with phobias, trauma, and post traumatic stress. This is a skill that can be used safely without professional supervision, provided that you learn to create a statement that will not trigger extreme emotions and memories, but still is specific enough to address the thing you need to deal with.
Use your search engine to find the organizations that have free videos and also, look into getting a book about it. The one I have trusted to give me solutions that I have needed is listed in the suggested reading section of this web site.
When doing EFT on your own for very large or extreme events such as battlefield events, or trauma from traffic accident, and even moments of abuse, doing EFT will be far more effective if you break down the event into smaller sections and release each one, or for each person involved to get the best outcome. Only so much trauma can be changed at a time, or the process is overwhelmed and not as effective.
Don’t hesitate to get an appointment with me so that I can see what you need to do or add to get the outcome you are hoping for.
