Understanding Reiki and Positive Energy

Reiki means “Life Force” in Japanese. I have been fascinated by Reiki since I first saw the word on a business sign that does therapeutic massage. When I was suffering from stress and fibromyalgia my husband and I used to hire a massage therapist who did home health. She would schedule both of us to help reduce our stress and pain. At some point she added Reiki to her sessions and it felt like a miracle. She said that you listen to the spirit to give you the word you need and then trust the energy to know what to do. For me, she put one hand at the top of my spine and the base of my spine and held it there. What I felt was similar to how the medics in Start Trek would scan a body. I felt and almost heard waves of energy travel up and down my spine. It felt tingly and comforting at the same time. I could never get enough. The next time I experienced Reiki was several years later when I was at a Holistic Healing conference. There was a booth that offered 5-minute samples of Reiki from a healer who worked fulltime at a hospice reducing the need for pain medication and to help ease stress and pain. I sat down with no expectations, and she put her hands on my shoulders. What I felt this time was a warmth that was so natural, so pure that it felt like the love of God had taken over my shoulders. It was literally a “Balm of Gilead” that went deeply into my tissues. My body had been so wracked with pain for so long that I had gotten used to the manifestation of anger in every cell of my body. This was what love felt like and I was obsessed to find out more and get certified, or “attuned.”

The reason I include Reiki in the Dragonfly Protocol is to help the body to remember what it is to feel deeply, unconditionally loved. Trauma and the accompanying stress, disease and physical pain is, in many cases, overwhelming and can feel like anger is occupying every cell in your body, organs, spirit. This anger, held long enough is accepted eventually as a normal state. This tricks the body to turn its immune system to attack healthy organs, nerves, even whole systems.

So, what is it? Actually, the likelihood that you are already doing Reiki is pretty high. If you have smiled at someone to reassure or encourage them, if you have held someone’s hand in the hospital, or given someone a hug to transfer your love or approval, you have a transferred a healing emotion to another person or thing. That is Reiki.

To be “attuned” and certified, you go to a Reiki Master who is trained to teach students how to alter their energy, giving permission to accept and transfer a sacred healing emotion from Source, through you, to the client. A Reiki practitioner is trained how to call up Healing Words, used to produce the energy the body/spirit needs to resolve issues. They ask what issues you need to resolve, They may scan your spirit to detect vibrations that are out of sync, and then as the spirit which word or combinations of words are needed to be the most helpful during the session. In a medical setting, Reiki is often used to reduce the harmful side effects and stress of Cancer treatments. It is also used to regulate blood pressure and blood sugar levels before surgery. It is used all over the world and is a billable service in about 20% of American hospitals. Doctors and nurses in emergency centers have reported finding Reiki very helpful in dealing with patients who are frighted, in pain, panicked, so much so that it is rare to go to a Reiki class and not find doctors and nurses getting certified with you.

What does this mean to you, when you are trying to heal yourself? You can do a lot of Reiki on yourself without being professionally attuned. This is a more pure version of healing with healing words. Jesus, used Reiki techniques in some of his healing stories. Choosing healing words that your own spirit or that of a loved one will disclose to you is a simple practice of recognizing the negative word lodged in the spirit/body causing harm, and choosing an opposing word. For example: If you have the words, “rage, shock, shame” manifesting somewhere, you can call upon healing words to correct the vibration. The obvious opposite of this words may be a simple as peace, acceptance, and gratitude.

Peace is used to calm Rage, Acceptance is used to correct shock, and Shame, a State of Lack, is corrected with Gratitude because it is the State of Abundance. In your mind you can call up those words (or the spirit of those words) in your heart and then let them flow to your hands and then put them over your knee or kidney, or liver, or an old wound that still hurts. As you hold them there just meditate and recite those words and you regulate your breath work and transfer those chosen healing words to where it is needed.

I will often combine Reiki with the other modalities I suggest in The Dragonfly Protocol. Such as with any of the Discover Healing techniques, Emotion Code, Body Code and Belief Code, I replace imbalanced emotions with healing words as I remove them or at the end of the session.

We make healing water by reciting healing words to spring water and then drink it. It’s amazing how this changes the water’s taste and light refraction. Healing words are used in guided imagery to help with forgiveness processes. And when you decide how to rewrite beliefs and don’t work for you, Reiki and all kinds of healing words will be key.

Understanding how healing words changes your vibrations in pursuit to living more deliberately, and choosing what your mind does, instead of letting it run amuck such as with depression and certainly with PTSD. Some would say that Reiki is just a placebo effect. But throughout medicine, intention is the greatest healing factor known. So, to you I say, so what? There is lots of medical evidence out there that shows that it has measurable effects and is valuable in appropriate applications. Your opinion matters in what will work for you, so does hard evidence and that is why I included Reiki in the Dragonfly Protocol.
